Maia Sidamonidze, 26, has become a new head of the Department of Tourism and Resorts. The new head of the department was presented Thursday by Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Vera Kobalia. Maia Sidamonidze is living in London now.
Sidamonidze told Rustavi 2 TV station that she will return to Georgia in a week. She intends to hold her first meeting with representatives of the small businesses and present them her action strategy as soon as she arrives in Tbilisi. The strategy implies development of infrastructure and attracting tourists from throughout the world, including Georgia`s neighbour countries.
Sidamonidze`s project was the best among the 11 projects for development of tourism and related infrastructure, which were revealed out of 109 on August 4. Seven of the nine members of the commission of the Ministry for economy and Sustainable Development voted for the project and therefore, Maia Sidamonidze became winner of the contest.
